How to make an extended window for seasonal depression.
I, unfortunately, could not film myself using the big torch for safety reasons, but don't worry!! This is a heat gun, I tried the same techniques on smaller pieces of plexiglass therefore I had to use a less strong device to create heat, but the "technique" is the same I show this soy can get an idea on how t hold your touch (if wanted to do on a bigger scale)
ps: I right "technique" between quotes because, as I explained before there is always going to be a surprise in the outcome you can't make a precise design with this type of experiment, but that's the fun part!
What did I use to make my plexiglass little designs?!
Here is a little analysis of how I made all the different designs also explaining you how to use the torch if you want to try to recreate my designs, but don't worry there is more explanation if you continue in case this isn't clear enough!! I would also encourage you to try your own design!!! ;)
Here is a small video to show you how much distance you need to have between your heat and the plexiglas!
Hey! Welcome to my blog! in this episode, I will explain how to create an extended window for seasonal depression. I Lieve in the Netherlands and I need to say in the winter I feel quite down because of the weather. So decided to create an extent for my window to feel a little bit of color during the grey days. Each of the squares represents some of my favorite souvenirs during nice weather times.

The first one is during reminds me of the sea, the beach afternoons, and the nice sunsets where you can see the reflection of the sun in the water and all these amazing pinkish colors in the sky.

The second one is in spring when all the cherry trees get these beautiful pink flowers clashing with the almost back pigment of the branches.

The third one reminds me of the beach days when you can play with the sand, make castles or little pools, and find all these different color shells.

The fourth is the big forests, when I was little, on sunny days I used to go to the forest near my house where I felt very small compared to the amassing big green trees that created a feeling of protection and confront.

The fifth is the vivid memory of my ant's house, lost in the middle of the Danish countryside where if you step out the door you could see a beautiful landscape, combining the lovely flowers she has in her garden followed by large fields of wheat and at the end the start of a vast forest all cover in the heat of the powerful sun.

The Sixth one represents the time of my school day when I woke up very early and the sky was already getting light, no clouds around and the sunrise appearing slowly but surely, small birds singing and a good mood coming in knowing it was going to be a good day.

Plexiglas experiments
As a graphic designer you could use this type of experiment for a lot of things:
-As for business cards, it could be interesting to design nice business cards to advertise yourself made of plexiglass using these techniques and experiment with printing on it afterward.
-A lens, a way to see the world from a different way and get inspiration from it.
-As a branding pattern, a way to create new textures, colors, designs, transparency...Experiment with new ways of creating a corporate identity.
-As a typography design, by using only the heat for example since the design can be more or less planned yet still always full of surprises it could be interesting to see typography based on textures created by the heat on the plexiglass.
-As a packaging design, it could be nice to see the packaging of candy for example with all these colors and play with the transparency of the material to create a nice imbalance.
-Used on a 3D scanner and incorporate it into a motion design video and use the shape and texture to create a very unique advertisement.
-As for business cards, it could be interesting to design nice business cards to advertise yourself made of plexiglass using these techniques and experiment with printing on it afterward.
As a graphic designer myself, I would also find it interesting to be able to put this into my practice. In my study I create visual concepts, by using computer software or by hand, to create ideas that inspire, inform and captivate consumers, how would we use this to do so?
